Every model is built on the MAN TGE platform and available in front-wheel drive or 4×4. Category C1 covers vehicles between 3,500kg and 7,500kg — if you passed your car test before 1 January 1997 you will almost certainly hold it already, listed on the back of your photocard. We will go through it with you on your discovery call.
Hors Catégorie
None of the four quite fit? Hors Catégorie is our bespoke build programme — a fully custom build on the same platform, for the small number of briefs the standard models can’t meet. Limited to one or two builds a year, from £137,500 inc VAT for a medium wheelbase, or £147,500 for a long wheelbase.

Which Onyx campervan model is right for me?
Choose Summit if you want our flagship two-berth adventure van, Outpost if you need four berths and maximum storage, and Arête if you want the most premium touring layout. Mesa, our family-focused layout with a permanent shower room, is coming this October. Hors Catégorie is for fully bespoke or exceptional briefs.
Which Onyx model is best for two people?
Summit suits most couples who want a premium two-berth adventure van with space for bikes, kit, dogs and long off-grid trips. Arête may suit couples who want a larger or more luxurious touring layout.
Which Onyx model is best for families?
Both Outpost and Mesa are built for families. Outpost suits families travelling with lots of kit — four berths, pop-top as standard and maximum storage, with no fixed shower room. Mesa is for families who want a permanent shower room; it arrives this October, so register your interest to be first in line.
Can I have a shower in an Onyx campervan?
Yes. Some Onyx layouts use a pop-up or flexible shower system to preserve living space, while others are designed around a permanent shower room. Every model also has an external shower point. The right option depends on whether you prioritise open space, storage, family use or a fixed bathroom.
Are Onyx vans suitable for off-grid travel?
Yes. Off-grid capability is central to the Onyx range. Depending on the model and specification, our vans can include lithium batteries, solar, inverter power, diesel heating, hot water and induction cooking.
Do all Onyx vans use the MAN TGE?
Yes. Our standard models are built on the MAN TGE platform because it gives us a strong base for long-distance travel, proper payload planning, good road manners and a refined driving experience. Front-wheel drive and 4×4 options depend on the model, base vehicle availability and build slot.
Can I customise an Onyx van?
Yes. Our standard models start from proven layouts, but finishes, colours, materials and selected options can be tailored. For projects that do not fit one of our standard models, Hors Catégorie is our limited bespoke programme.
Can I bring you a van to convert?
We supply the base vehicle new. It lets us spec the van correctly for the build from the start — payload, drivetrain and electrics planned around your build — and it comes with MAN’s full three-year warranty on the base vehicle. An Onyx campervan is a serious investment on its own, so the van underneath should be new, sound and built to match.
How much does an Onyx campervan cost?
Pricing depends on the model, base vehicle, drivetrain and options, and every build includes a brand-new MAN TGE base vehicle built to your spec. The Summit starts from £127,500, the Arête from £135,000, the Outpost from £140,000 and the Mesa from £145,000. Our Hors Catégorie bespoke programme starts from £137,500 for a medium wheelbase and £147,500 for a long wheelbase. All prices include VAT, and 4×4 adds £5,000 to any model.
Where are Onyx campervans built?
Onyx campervans are manufactured in West Sussex. The same team that designs and specifies each build is closely involved in the workshop, which helps keep the vans practical, coherent and properly finished.
