How long does a conversion take?The typical timeline for a campervan conversion at Onyx Vans is approximately 2-3 months, depending on the complexity of the build and customization requirements.

What base vehicles do you work on for your campervan conversions?We mainly use VW Crafters or MAN TGEs as base vehicles for our campervan conversions. We think these vans make great adventure vans, offering a capable base to create your dream camper. From time to time, we may consider other projects as well. In the past, we've worked on everything from a Defender to an expedition truck. If you're thinking of something a bit different, feel free to get in touch to discuss.

Do you install gas in your conversions?All of our conversions are gas-free. Instead of using gas, we install a Victron electrical system designed to power your cooking and living needs and a diesel heater that provides your heating and hot water. We believe this is the best way to run your campervan for a few reasons. For one, LPG (the gas you'd use for cooking and heating) is becoming harder to find, and so we prefer to keep it out of the vans. Additionally, we believe that installing one less system simplifies taking care of the camper. Finally, with Lithium batteries becoming better and more accessible, it's possible to install a high power system for a reasonable budget.

Can I customise the layout and features of my campervan?At Onyx, we love creating bespoke adventure vans to suit our clients' needs. We will work with you to accommodate your dreams, and we will customise your layout to suit you. That said, we do maintain a consistent design style across our conversions. Take a look at our gallery or our instagram to get a good idea of what we'll do. Additionally, we will help guide you in making sure that your campervan is functional and beautiful. This may mean we say no to certain requests or that we let you know when your design idea will impose severe limitations on the functionality of your van.

How much is a custom campervan conversion?Our custom van conversion prices start from £45,000, excluding the base vehicle. All of our conversions include full off-grid electrical systems, heating and hot water.
